    Hi All! Newbie question here...
We have 7 chicks that are about 4 weeks old (mixture of barred rock and Asian blues) and we have 3 silkies that are about 2 weeks old. I was wondering how and when to introduce them? Being that the silkies are bantams, they are significantly smaller than the other girls so I'm worried they'll get picked on.
We currently have the 7 big girls in the coop (with a heat lamp) and the 3 little girls in the brooder box in our mud room.

Hi and welcome to BYC! Congrats on the chicks!

Here is an excellent article on how to introduce chicks:

Basically it entails three main methods, you don't need to worry about quarentine so much because you just have new babies. A little bit of pecking is bound to happen no matter what. Anywho, the three main methods are:

    1. Put on the roost all together at night once the silkies are about the same size
    2. Free range all of them together with a get-away for the smaller chicks
    3. Introduce through a fence for a few weeks then free range
