my family has recently taken up chickens. my daughter is in 4-H and has just got her first show chickens (o.e. bantams) and very excited about it by the way. my question is this. we bought 5 birds at the show in stockton last weekend and i need to know if i can put them all in the same coop. we have 3 varieties to be in the same coop. 1-wheaton, 1-b.b. red, 2- spangels, these are all hens and then we have 1-spangel rooster. can i put all of these is the same coop?

First of all search bio security on BYC. The need to be quarantined for at least one month before exposing them to your other birds or you could lose all of them to a contagious illness.

It is really important to keep adult birds away from your flock and watch for health issues. I have seen many people here that have lost some or all of their flock from introducing a bird that they didn't know was ill.
