I currently have a flock of 19 chickens that are all large breeds. This is a new flock so they are fairly young still, 2 months to 3 months old. A friend of ours also has chickens, but they live in a neighborhood and, therefore, can not have roosters. He is looking for someone to take his silkie rooster. While another rooster would not be too much for my flock, I am not sure how such a small breed would do with mine. Can a small little guy make it with larger breeds? I have no experience with bantam breeds, but don't mind helping a friend out. By the same token I'd hate to take the little guy they lovingly raised only to have mine peck it to death. Any thoughts?
