Hi! We have a small flock of free ranging backyard hens and in 2 weeks or so will be getting a Hen and her newly hatched chicks. (We decided not to move her and the fertile eggs from the previous owner until after they hatch, for fear that she would abandon the eggs).
What do I need to expect when bringing them home. I know I will need to have a separate coop for them. I'm pretty new in the backyard chicken game but extremely excited for this new experience and adventure!!! Thanks in advance for all the help!

Sounds exciting!

Keep her and her chicks in a pen with a small run or exercise area and a nest to rest on, a chick waterer, and some chick food. They should be kept in there for at least 3 weeks, since they are new. Then move them, still in a pen, with-in hearing and sight range of their new flock for another week or so until they all get to know each other. Broodies and chicks are prone to bullying, so make the introduction very carefully and make sure there is lots of space, multiple feeders and waterers, ect.

Best of luck!
