If I have 6 laying hens, and want to raise 5 more from chicks, when can I place the new chicks in the pen with the adult hens, provided I raise them inside the same pen but separated via chicken wire.

If they are separated by wire and have a heat source you can put them in there from day 1.

Yes, would be good. Especially for the first couple of weeks.

If it's in the 90s at night no. If it gets colder than that I would supplement heat accordingly to their age
