I ordered 20 broilers, three buff's and one free exotic chick back in March. I have since butchered the broilers. I have the three buff's and the one free exotic which I am thinking is a rooster at this point because he crows. No spurs yet, but he crows. I just ordered 25 more chicks. Most of them are the broiler's but four of them are layers. I have the new chicks inside the coop separated from the older ones. They can see each other through the chicken wire. How old should the chicks when I let them out to be with the rest of the flock. These birds inside a large coop with a large cement patio/run.

I usually introduce my new chickens with the older chickens when they are about 3 months old.

My chicks have been free ranging with my flock since they were 3 weeks old. Their adopted mom is near them. But now at 4 weeks she's a little less protective. I have never had a problem. But I think hiding spaces are important just in case.
