Hello, I have 2 four month old silkies that I believe are a roo and pullet. I am getting 2 more day old silkie chicks. Can I put them in the same coop right away or should I keep the chicks in a brooder for a bit? If so how long? I am new to silkies so any help would be great!!

Hi there, no,no,no! The little ones will likely be killed. The bigger chicks will peck them to death!!
They do not recognize them as babies - simply food.
The babies will have to be kept under heat for several weeks - at least 8 weeks, until they feather out and can maintain their own temperatures.
There are some great articles on caring for chicks in the learning tab, I highly recommend them,

Thank you very much!! For some reason when I look at my silkies I forget that are are chickens and they have the same habits as my larger chickens! I have 14 other egg layers but my silkies seem like they are still babies :) I will set up a brooder for them...maybe my hubby will let me keep them in the house hehe!
