I have a lone Muscovy male that I adopted last week. I’m guessing he’s around 1 or 2 years old.
I am supposed to get him another drake ( same breed and age ) as a friend tomorrow. I can’t get more than 1 more duck.. so I figured another male would be better than a female due to him over breeding.
But I’m starting to chicken out and get nervous... will this work?
Are they going to fight.. or try to mate with each other?
I don’t want to create a stressful dynamic or problem. So I’d like advice before it’s too late to back out.

Things could go either way. Drakes as long as no Hens are around generally get along. All Ducks will try to breed each other. A flock of all Hen Ducks breed each other too.
The choice is up to you. I personally would find two Hens and then you know it will workout...
Best of luck in your decision...

As far as integration goes, fence them side by side for a week or 2. This will help them know each other but won't allow the to physically interact. If you don't have the facilities to do this, you can put them together supervised for a while and then separate them. You might have to separate them if they get too rough. Ducks are usually nicer to each other than chickens but can be unpredictable at times. :)

If the males are breeding eac other like on a regular basis, will it injure them? ( someone mentioned a prolapse ) or is it fine?
