Introducing farm cat?

I meant the chickens got upset.
Have you ever been to the circus were they have trained big cats? Just about anything can be trained, it depends on the trainer and just because you are not able to do it, doesn't mean it can't be done. I've trained my chickens not to go onto the road among other training.

Anyway I think oldrooster has the ticket. I'll use one the kittens I just found and train it.

I just found a feral cat with five kittens after I started this thread. It's not clear why the concern over a cat living in the "wild". They did this before we came along.

Why do people keep saying cats can't be trained. Here are a bunch of them that were trained to roll over on command.

Dogs tend to wonder off a property, which is illegal (I have no fences). No one cares if cats wonder off the property plus they can get into more areas that rodents are.
If you can get the kittens before they get very big you may be able to tame them but the mother would likely be a lost cause. although there is one out of a hundred that can be tamed.

There are tons of tiger "trainers" that ended up being mauled to death and even more tigers that were killed because they wouldn't perform, but you can do what you want. I doubt I will change your mind, so I will just leave this thread.

I don't want the cat as a pet oldrooster, I'm just going to train to not to be too afraid of me and call my place home base. The kitten doesn't seem very old, the rest of I'll remove. I'm hopping the feral cat is just passing thought and takes the rest with her.

The first sentence answers the second.

Hopefully you can take care of the kitten if it's not weaned and maybe get it's shots...... and spay it so there's not more feral cats.

I've read of using a wire crate to 'train' a cat to stay put and 'home' it to your barn or wherever you're providing shelter.
Providing it's food in the crate for a few weeks and getting it used to your presence can go a long way to convince it to stick around before letting it loose to hunt rodents.
