Introducing goslings to one another

So a friend gave me a Tollouse gosling about 2-3 weeks ago along with some eggs to hatch. I've raised her on her own (with a toy) since and just today one of the eggs hatched. She's deeply imprinted on me.

We got a lamp and tried introducing them and it seemed to go well except the older gosling suddenly roughly pulled at the baby's back. I thought maybe it was a grooming thing but then she went for the face and walked on it (she is twice the size though).

We've separated them in boxes next to one another and it seems like they're talking. The baby starts being really loud, even though we have something fluffy with it and a mirror. It's also shaking but it's literally a couple hours old, is that concerning?

How can we introduce them? Should we wait? Ella (the older one) seems lonely with just me for company and the baby is already starting to imprint on me.

Also, Ella (2 weeks old) makes a raspy squeek or honk when she's resting. Is that normal?

I'd wait until the smaller one is bigger and stronger. Take them out together with supervision for a bath or some fresh grass. They may need to be partitioned the entire time they're in the brooder.

I was afraid of that lol. We don't currently have a brooder and they're living out of separate bins (like for storage). But I can see what you mean about the partition. We might have a screen small enough for that or I'll need to buy one.

Until then, would you have ideas on how to keep the baby comfortable on its own? Even with something soft to snuggle up on, it still cries for hours

I would make sure they can see each other if you haven't already put the bins side by side assuming they're clear. You can try a stuffed animal, but may have better luck with public radio, light classical music or if you search it up on youtube, the lotr soundtrack.

I actually found a screen so they're in together. The baby is fine and it seems the oldest is still constantly trying to attack the screen, she's also the one who's now crying constantly for me. I just found out about classical music and it's working fairly well!

Thank you so much!
