Plucky has a call duck for a dad and a runner duck for a mom. Of the 9 eggs we had in the incubator he is the only one who made it out, and he only made it with ALOT of hlep! 5 died in the shell and 3 where not fertile. Plucky is special to us because his mom was killed by some predator a week after we put the eggs in the incubator. She was our only runner duck so we will never get more plucky's! Plus he is the first duck we have ever hatched out!

Her he is!

We have to keep him separte from the silkies he hatched with because they kept pecking at his eyes and feet. Still he has bonded with them and not us! He sits at one side of his tub and they sit around the outside of his tub keeping him company.

Has anyone else ever had this cross? If so what did they look like as they grew?

Thanks Melissa

Thats an interesting cross..i can picture a tiny little runner ..

He sure is fast. Scott took him out the other day and set him on the floor! I have never seen something run that fast. It was hilarious watching Scott trying to catch the little guy. And our old fat cat that we didn't think would even catch mice anymore even got all excited about it! This cat will let you set baby chicks on her and she won't even move.
I wonder if he will be able to fly or not. The call ducks can fly out of our 10' pen with there one wing clipped!
I will get more pictures soon

I'm glad I'm not alone, my little black and white Call hen, Holly just surprised me with 7 babies. I had no idea she'd mate with the huge Lavender Runner drake....I can't wait to see what they grow up to look like.
