In the Brooder
Hi all!
My name is Erica. I have been wanting chickens for months now and my husband finally let me order (originally four!) five chicks from mypetchicken. I had to get one more for the minimum order
I'm originally from the suburbs of Los Angeles and we are currently about 35ish miles north of Sac in Marysville, CA, in a new housing development that borders farmland. Talk about a nice, relaxing change of pace
I picked up the chicks from the post office Wed, making them 5 days old, and have been patiently waiting for enough settle-in time for a photoshoot! Without further ado here they are:
First one up is our Buff Orpington, aptly named Sunny
She is the most calm chick out of the bunch; very calm, tolerates being handled, and usually off on her own in the brooder. Don't want to pick a "favorite" so soon, but I love her chill demeanor!
Our EE, Paprika. She is very animated, FAST, and talkative. Yes, she was chirping the entire photoshoot. Sometimes joins in on our Wyandotte's and Australorp's games.
Our Australorp, Sydney. Look at her strut!
Her and our Wyandotte seem to be hitting it off real well; they are two peas in the pod. My husband and I joke that they are the jerks of the flock (hopefully this turns out to be untrue!) because they seem to bother the other three with their playfulness...
Our unnamed Golden Laced Wyandotte. Follows Sydney around all over the brooder. We put a dust bath in the brooder and Sydney and this one LOVE it. They also seem to love to accidentally kick the dirt in the other chicks' faces. Rude. Waiting to see if she has other personality traits other than copying Sydney to name her
And our most camera shy, our unnamed Welsummer. She was NOT having photoshoot day. We are waiting for her personality to develop more before naming. She is the most flighty out of all them so far.
