Hi, im new to keeping birds and so started small with a three chickens, 2 ducks and 2 goslings. since then iv expanded with a total of 8 hens and a rooster, 3 ducklings and the original two ducks and the two geese. i originally kept the ducklings with the goslings when they were all small, but as the ducklings got bigger, they were mixed with the older two (drake and duck) and get on fantastic except for the ducklings trying to get back with the goslings as there in two different enclosures. during the day my ducks are all left to wonder the garden and do there own thing, which seems to upset the goslings, and they try to get out with the ducks, my plan is to have them all together, but im unsure if they will be ok with the ducks? im sure they would be fine with the three ducklings (though there pretty big now so calling them ducklings is a little misleading) but my drake has already attacked my rooster, my dog and myself on occasion. is it better to keep the geese seperated until there bigger or just let them get used to each other?
Also my little gander is a bit dopey and got stuck in the pond and couldnt get out, luckily we found him early and apart from being a little distressed and very tired he was ok and thankfully didnt drown, i think its because he is the smallest out of all my birds at the moment as the other goose is bigger then he is and has no problem, is there any thing i can do with his assistance out of the pond? the pond is not really big enough for a ramp, so unsure what to do?
Sorry for the long post :) thanks!

Hi and

For the pond (you don't say type or size) but you can use pavers to build a staircase on the inside. Depending on depth, you could use 1 for a kiddie pool or several stacked as literal stairs.

As for introducing the goslings and ducklings, I'm not sure. I am new to geese and have 5 that range from 3-5 weeks old. My 5 muscovy (4 months old) did NOT like them at all and I'd only had the ducks for about a week or so. They are all in the same house, I had the goslings seperate at first but now there isn't a barrier the goslings just avoid the ducks. They actually run away from them but they do go in the house at night.
You don't state the ages or breeds of your birds but unless there is a great size difference between the drake and the goslings, I would try them together supervised. There may be some chasing/pecking order type thing but as long as it doesn't get too bad, i would be okay with it. I have never had a drake attack anything. Mine would grab at my dog's ears/tail if the dogs got too close but no literal attacking. I don't know that I would tolerate that.
Hope this helps a little or brings on more comments.

sorry :) the pond isnt that big, its only 5 foot by about 3 foot and is an old plastic fish pond. not large enough to hold pavers.
Yea, sorry again, the drake doesnt attack like overly aggressive it does just flap his wings and peck abit, nothing to excessive.
The goslings are only about 8 - 10 weeks old, and my older ducks are about 11 months - 12. the ducks are aylesbury but the geese im not sure on. im mainly worried about the little gander because he is smaller then the rest, where as the goose is almost as big as the ducks!

Oh okay. Usually when people are talking about attacking drakes blood may be involved.

For the pond, I think you should rig something up or not allow them in until they are bigger. I had thought about using a preformed pond but worried because the sides aren't slanted for an easy exit. If it's in the ground you could maybe some type of a ramp that doesn't extend more than 8-12" in to allow the little guy to climb out.
I would try to put them together supervised. My youngest goslings were only 1 week old when I got them and the ducks would grab a leg or something occassionally. That is why I kept them seperate for about 2 weeks but now they at least tolerate each other.

yea, we supervised them and they get on great :) no problems at all. and as for the pond problem we decided to get rid of the plastic mold pond and dig a new pond with slopes and apart from hitting a gas pipe...... it works brilliant :D thanks for the advice :)

Great to hear it! I have just introduced some chickens and a roo into the pen with mine. My drake isn't happy but they seem to be tolerating each other more this morning.
