Hi all! I'm totally new to backyard chickens, although I grew up on a farm. We didn't always have chickens, and when we did they weren't there for eggs. I'm now the proud caretaker of 7 RIR pullets who are now 4 weeks old. They're spending their first night in the coop tonight, with their heat lamp. The outside run will be completed in a couple of weeks. It will actually be a tractor, with wheels and skids, so that it can be moved around the property. Can't wait til it's all finished to post pics! I'm excited to be here and learn as much as I can from all of you!

Welcome, welcome. I started on July 6th last year. My kids talked me into getting some baby chicks, so 27 chicks later I am totally obsessed and in love. I have a barn (former tack room) converted to the hen house, door to the outside 10x20 wire pen with roof and 1/2 acre of free range area for them to run.

This is a great website. I have had a lot of questions answered here. Welcome to the farm.
