Using the sample questions posted....it just seems so much easier!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am not new to chickens. I've had them several times over the years. Starting when I was 14 I raised 25 RiR from Strombergs. They did well...I think slowly they got picked off by hawks, skunks, weasels etc;
I got them again about 6 years ago. I had black sex links for the eggs. I only kept 3 the rest were given to a friend for his six kids. They still have a few of them. They were the friendliest (and BROODIEST) birds I think I'll ever have. They would be free ranging in a back corn field and when my car would pull in the drive they would run like crazy to greet me and get picked up.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I just got 12 chicks today
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have 5 "red pullets" that may be golden comets, production reds, or rhode island reds, or new hampshire reds, and Seven straight run speckled sussex from TSC.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I've been wanting chickens since last year and I spent all winter/spring researching and changing my mind, building the coop, and getting everything ready. When TSC finally had gotten in something interesting I decided to buy. I was looking all over for private farmers first but had no luck. Hoping next year I might, or one of my girls will end up broody and raise the next generation.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'll answer this in the next question.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I don't have any family. I live alone. I do have an American Eskimo named Westley, he's just the best! I'm a certified guidance counselor by education and trade! I also actively raise and show rabbits and I'm a registrar for the American Rabbit Breeders Association. I'm studying for my judges test in August!
Feel free to ask me any questions you want!
