Hi! Excited to learn from everyone. We started with free ranging chickens in 2018 knowing nothing. That original flock has died out since then - from various predators and one from illness. Have gained some experiential knowledge along the way. Was given a d’Uccle rooster in 2020 and adopted hens last summer from a friend who moved. This spring first time hatching both under brooding hens and in incubator if a hen abandoned. About 50/50 ratio on that. Chicks currently range in age from 3-9 weeks. Anxiously awaiting to know which are roosters, which are hens. Breeds of our adult birds: hens - buff Orpington, cream legbar, welsummer, cuckoo Maran, blue copper Maran; 2 roosters - small Mille fleur d’Uccle (dad) and Mille fleur d’Uccle/buff Orpington mix (son) who is large with gorgeous coloring. Mystery: Two chicks hatched white and speckled with either gold or red. The rest are pretty true to the mom‘s breed. Some have slight characteristics of dad such as speckled and only two are smaller size like the pure d’Uccle Dad. Will look around this forum to get any answers to my questions. Feel free to comment advice on anything I’ve written above.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Nice variety of breeds you keep, makes for a colorful chicken yard for sure! Hopefully you don't have too many roosters, you can start a thread in our What Breed and Gender forums for help with them.
