Introducing myself newbie Marie.

Thank you all so much for the welcome. I definitely intend to learn alot before getting some babies.
We have a store here that sells chicks in the spring and some IFA’s. I don’t think I want to start this spring with chicks but for sure in 2024.
I will ask questions for sure. 1st question is I only want to start with 2 or 3. How big of an enclosure and run would be good for them? Would a 5x10 be ok?

Definitely start with 3 birds, sometimes not all of them make it to adulthood and you don't want to keep a lone bird.

Generally chickens need 5 square feet per bird in the coop and 10 square feet per bird in the run. The more space you can give them the better. Chickens don't like to feel cramped and like their personal space.

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.
