Hi!

My name is Wren, and I live in beautiful Vermont. Work at 500 ft. elevation, but the grove is at over 1500 feet up the mountain!

We have so many chickens, I do not even have a count!! I live with a bird expert, who keeps rare breeds and is working on sustaining and improving their health. We have Pavloskaya, Siberian Woodhens, Green Jungle Fowl and many others.

I really joined, though, as I knew you folks would understand.

We recently had to rehome a Lilac Egger rooster, whose name is Bubba. He was and is a sweetheart, but the other roosters were picking on him, so he decided to move inside. And when I would pick him up to put him back in an aviary, he'd snuggle into me.

Alas, Bubba was of course not housebroken, we have a growing pup who liked to try to herd him, and I got tired of rooster poop in the house. He was rehomed with a friend of a friend who only had hens, so now they have a big rooster to help protect them. But I do miss Bubba buddy!

Did you ever have to rehome a bird you missed anyway?

Hi Wren, I'd love to see some photos of the birds you mention (if you don't mind sharing)! Make yourself at home here, thanks for joining.

I had to rehome an entire flock once when moving across country...one of those still holds a special place in my memories. She was a red sex link and the friendliest little lap sitter you could ever want. It can be hard to give them up, but sometimes it's necessary. Sorry you had to give up Bubba.

Hiya, Wren, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Ah, yes. It's always the sweetest rooster though it seems. Merle was ours. He was a red partridge silkie rooster.

I too would love to see pictures if you don't mind sharing!

We're glad you're here!
