Hi everyone! I'd like to introduce myself to the group! I'm an absolute chicken beginner, but I have a great love of animals and aspire to have a more homesteading lifestyle. I'm motivated to learn and try new things. I've inspired my husband to follow a older simpler lifestyle after I've spent the first few years of our marriage researching real food!
We are brand new to chickens and bought our first chicks in October 2024. We decided to raise some after I got a peek at them on my way to buy raw milk. The draw was too great! And luckily my husband was motivated to research and build a coop!
We have eight chickens, coming in pairs. We have two of each; Plymouth Barred Rocks, Black Australorps, Easter Eggers, and Olive Eggers. As far as we can tell, they've all developed into hens.
I love the little personalities of these chickens. I will sit in the coop with them, watch them, and pet them when they come up on my lap. They are such interesting creatures! I can't wait until they lay eggs!
I often love spending time with my family and play games. I'm a gamer, reader, avid movie watcher, and ballroom dancer (on occasion!) I love going to church and serving others when I can.
Me and my husband have been married for three years now. We're both from Arizona, and have our families close. We live close to university and my husband attends/works at school, while I work and chase after our springer spaniel. Somehow we're making a small backyard work for raising chickens. I'm happy to be apart of the BYC community
