Hello all!
I am a newbie to raising chickens and also to BYC!:) We just got our first chicks last Wednesday and are loving them so far!! We got 7 chicks: 3 buff orpingtons, 2 Barred Rocks, 1 Golden Laced Wyandotte, and 1 black australorp! Sadly one of the buff orps and one of the barred rocks didn't make it...:( But we ordered 5 more chicks to make up for them and in case a few more die! (Chicken math, ya know?) They are coming this Wednesday and are 1 buff Orpington, 2 barred rocks and 2 speckled sussex! We are going to put them in the same brooder as the ones we have now, that should be fine right? Because they are only one week apart..
I found backyard chickens when I was googling some questions about raising chicks and it has helped me a lot because I did LOTS of research before we got our chicks! I go here for pretty much all my questions now and decided to join because I wanted to post a few of my own questions!
Have a good night!

We are so glad you joined our flock.
You won't know if it will be fine until your try it....jsut keep a close eye on them when you do try it.

We are using a kiddie pool for our brooder right now, so we will probably put a small cardboard box inside the kiddie pool for the new chicks (so that they can use the same heat lamp) for a few days just until they get stronger again and then we will put them in the pool with the rest of the chicks
