Hi! My name is Joyce. I had chickens when I was in school for 4-H. Also Pygmy goats. Then I didn’t have any for years. I am now retired so I am looking for just a few pet chickens!
I currently do not have any chickens. But I am looking to get two Silkie Bantam Hens and a Silkie Bantam Rooster. This is the breed I had before and what will best for me now being in a more urban area. Still trying to make sure I can legally have them here.
One of the reasons I decided to become a chicken mom is to help take care of the fleas we have here year around! I hope they will do the job, as I also need quieter birds due to a grumpy neighbor. I have dogs also so I need to be able to lock up the birds while the dogs are out. Then they can have the full backyard when the dogs are back in.
Animals are my hobby. I love them all! I have dogs and bunnies, English Angoras (2). My ex-husband lives with me. He had a stroke a year and a half ago. He still cannot eat, he is on a feed tube. We moved to Florida from Iowa because of the severe winter weather and his need to get medical attention quickly when he needs it. He also loves animals. We are friends so it works out well.
I found BYC when I was searching to find if I can have them here. I joined immediately. I will need your expertise to help me get started!
