We had 30 chickens. We have had may over the years. We were done with them. However there is always that one kid that wants to do a project for school. He picked chickens for his FFA SAE project. 😭. We had to start it all back up. Our dogs are old and it did not take long for predators to start coming. All the measures in place can not protect 100%. We have had Buff Orphingtons, sexlink, Rhode Island reds, turkeys, ducks, leghorns, queens, bard rock, amerucan, polish, Lavender, and I can’t remember all. We have done a little of everything. Now currently raising a African Gosling with some barnyard mixes. We have let the boys pretty much try or experience what we can. Our first was back in 2010. Our first book we bought was “Barnyard in your Backyard”. Still use it today. We have four kiddos. One grown and three teen boys. My husband and I both work full time. Hence we were over the outdoor animals. We live in the most southern western corner of Missouri (I’m not a fan. I’d rather be back in Georgia)
