(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found BYC while googling answers about raising chickens. I’ve found some great information here! I’m unfortunately joining because I made the mistake of raising ducklings alongside chicks, and now have had to separate them after we ended up with a drake who is now terrorizing the chickens, as he only wants to mate with them. We eventually want to reintegrate the two flocks, as they all love being together and the rest of the birds are all very sweet, so we want to find a good home for our drake pekin duck, where he can live with other ducks. If anyone lives in Michigan or Northern Ohio, please let me know! He’s very sweet to humans and other ducks, but can’t be alongside chickens. I’ll be posting a thread for this as well.

Besides the bad news about our drake, everything else is going great with our birds. They are the most friendly birds I’ve seen, and run right to us when we’re out there and love being held by my daughter. They follow her around like she’s the mother hen.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Thank you!
Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Yes definitely separate the Drakes from the chickens, Drakes can kill chicken hens with their mating "equipment".

Stop by the Ohio thread and say hi here... https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/ohio-come-on-buckeyes-let-me-know-your-out-there.12049/
