I got two chicks "for my son" a couple of weeks ago. We've been considering it for a couple of years and he finally convinced me. Last week we go two more. They seem to be addictive. And so easy. We are fairly sure they're Rhode Island Reds but whatever they are we're pretty happy with them. The dogs are happy with them too, but one of them seems to see it as her duty to protect the chicks from the other. Completely unnecessary since I don't think he's a danger to them either. They are both quite fascinated, though.

Welcome to BYC!

And congrats on the new babies! Yes, feed stores are dangerous places this time of year, what with all that Peeping!!!!

Have you stopped by our learning center yet? Lots of great tips and hints on raising your new brood and other aspects of keeping poultry....

Be very careful with dogs. Most dogs see chickens as dinner. So never turn your back on the dog.

So glad you have you apart of our community and welcome to our flock!
