I have ONE single rooster. All our hens were either killed over the last year, or died of old age. I would like to start with 3 new, young-ish hens. I don’t imagine the rooster will give them much problem as he’s “lonely”, correct??

I plan to shut them all into the coop for how long? Days, weeks?? The hens are about 5-6 months old, so fully grown.

Have you isolated these chickens first? Before introducing them to him ? If not I would do that before anything. (I’m obviously assuming you haven’t. And if you have ignore this lol)
Then that gives him a chance to get to know them.
Never assume a rooster or hen - will just accept newcomers even if they are alone. Sometimes they will, and sometimes it can turn nasty.

Once you’ve Isolated them - then you can introduce as normal. No need to lock them up if he’s had a chance to hear and meet them through the iso period (and meet them as in hear and see but not touch )

This rooster has traveled down to our neighbors twice now because he has hens, so I guess he’s REALLY lonely. My adult son has to walk down n get him.

This rooster has travelled down to our neighbors twice to visit neighbors hens, so I’m guessing he’s REALLY lonely n won’t cause any issues. How long do you think they need before letting them out of the coop??

We isolate for 14-30 days depending where we got them.
