introducing new birds

i have five 8 week old pullets and am thinking of getting a few new baby chicks. will the pullets beat them up? how would this work? i wouldn't put them in the coop till they were old though.

You would want to quarantine the new babies for 30 days, away from the pullets. Then you could put the new babies in a cage next to/in the coop with the bigger kids for a few days---usually you will want to wait until they are all approximately the same size before you toss them all in.
