We recently lost one of our girls, so we're down to 3 Ameraucanas. I would like to get 1 or 2 more chickens, and was wondering if there is a particular age that I should aim for? My girls are about 9months old. Also, is it best to introduce 1 or 2 at a time?

As far as actually introducing them goes, it seems like most people recommend keeping them separate, but in sight of each other for a little while. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'd introduce at the same time. If at all possible, do it in an area new to everyone, or at least large enough to offer distractions and hiding places. And, yes, keeping them separate but where they can see and hear each other for a few weeks is a technique many recommend Here is a thread that may have some ehlpful ideas:

We've let them hang out a few times. The Welsummer (3mos old) is a little spastic, and one of the Ameraucanas (full grown) chases them away sometimes, but they seem to do ok together. How much longer should we wait? They've been able to see each other in adjoining chainlink enclosure for almost 2 weeks. We have 2 Buff Orpingtons and the 1 Welsummer, all around 3mos old. The existing girls are Ameraucanas.
