I posted recently about having too many males to females. Well, someone my husband works with has ducks and has agreed to trade us two females for two of our drakes. That will give us two drakes and four hens (are female ducks called hens?). I know it's still not the best ratio, but I can't part with the other two drakes. Anyway, it's going to be another week or so before we swap as his are young and he's not sure of genders. I don't know exactly how old they are, but I'm wondering how to introduce them to the four I'll have left. Mine are about 4 1/2 months old and are allowed to free range all day. Should I keep the new additions penned up?

i would pen them up but where everyone can check each other out. i normaly do this for atleaast a few hrs. once every one chills out i let the new ones out and watch them close. they will prob. fight a little to show who's boss. by the end of the day everyone should be able to hang out without issues. i wouldnt worry about them running off they should stay close to your other ducks
