I have one Rhode Island Red and one Rhode Island Red/Cornish Rock mix that I want to introduce to my flock of 8. Any suggestions?

Here's a few ideas:

1. Wait until the evening when they go to roost, you can introduce the newbies then.

2. Introduce them with some type of see through divider between them, let them get used to each other for a few days and try putting them together then.

3. Introduce them in an area that's new to all of them. They'll all be a little curious and won't be as interested in each other as they will be in the new surroundings.

Something to think about. Good luck!!

Your signature say 2-3 week old RIR’s I don't know how old your other birds are but I would keep them separated for awhile. Let them see each other.

Yes, I wouldn't introduce them until the younger birds are at least 4 months old. I keep them separated but visible (with wire) for 3 weeks, then have "supervised visitation" until I trust that no one will get badly injured. Some people have had very good luck with the "sticking them in at night" method--but it makes me really nervous. I don't want to come out and find someone beaten to death. I also add a lot of new stuff (big toys, pots, etc..) in the run so they have things to hide behind, and it also puts the bullies a little of their guard.
