Hi.
I'm planning on buying a White Dorking pullet this summer to introduce to my flock of 3 currently 5-month old pullets (Wyandotte, EE, and barred rock). If I kept her separated at first, do you think this woud work out? I have a min-pen that I can put inside the main coop during the initial introduction period. Would they eventually accept her, or just incessantly harass her?

It is much better to introduce them in a pair or more. First of all, you are going to have to keep her in quarantine for at least 3 weeks, and she is going to be awfully lonely during that time. A lonely hen is more likely to get sick, have adjustment issues. She also will do better with a friend to even out things during introduction. If you can section off an area of the run, or give them a large cage, so they can be "separate, but visible" during introduction (at least 2 weeks), they will do much better. Make sure you have plenty of room in both the coop and run for all your chickens.
