Welcome to BYC. @N F C asked some good questions. Also can you post photos of your coop? Is it very hot inside the coop? Does it have adequate ventilation?

The entire coop and run are in the shade. The coop is well ventilated as the walls are made with fence pickets that have gaps between them and we have large vented openings at the top. Plus a

vented bottom to the nest box.

Of course we filled the coop with several inches of fresh pine shavings but I don’t have a picture of that. We are using the deep litter method.

Depending on your climate, I would remove some boards and put up hardware cloth in their place. Chickens like to see out when they go to roost.

Thanks for sharing pictures of your set up with us. I can't tell by looking at the photo, but is the run fortified with hardware cloth?

If your coop and run are fortified like Fort Knox, you could leave the coop doors open and let the flock go in and out as they wish.
