I currently have three hens - 2 x white sussex and 1 x Isa Brown. I have been asked to take on a bantam silkie roo and a bantam hen tomorrow. How should I introduce them? SHould I do it at night? Will the size difference be a problem? I would be grateful for advice.

I would make sure to quarentine them for at least a few weeks to make sure they are healthy before introducing them to your existing flock, after quarentine maybe put them in a pen where they can see the others and the others can see them so they get used to each other then add them with the rest. There will be some picking to establish a new pecking order and this is completely normal but just watch out for the new ones to make sure no one is getting tooo beat up.

Thanks for the advice. Do bantams and larger chickens generally get on okay? Will the bantams be picked on more due to their smaller size?
