I have a 1 year old Ameraucana rooster that is housed with 8 of my hens. I have a 6 month old Lavender Orpington rooster and hen that I want to introduce to the flock. I've had zero problems introducing hens to my flock in the past so its introducing the two roosters that I'm concerned with. Will that even work? Will they fight till they kill each other or can they co-exist? If they can possibly co-exist, how is the best way to introduce them? I have always introduced new hens by putting them on the roost in the coop with the others at dark then letting them out all together early the next morning and have never had any problems this way, but with two roosters I dont know if that is a good way to do it or not. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you! :)

The roosters will most likely fight, and the Ameraucana may be particularly aggressive to 'protect' his flock. I would want to be there to monitor such an introduction. If the one rooster submits to the other and your birds have lots of space, they may learn to coexist. There is also the possibility that there may not be a positive outcome.

Thank you for your response! I hate to have to sell the Lavender roo. :( He is so beautiful! But, I've had the Ameraucana longer and really love him. I really hope they can get along, but I don't have high hopes for it.

If your goal is to breed pure bred birds, then you will need to have separate enclosures for your breeds.
2 males and 9 females may be asking for trouble.
