Introducing young pullets to older hen

For reasons that I won't get in to, I have an older non-laying hen that is alone. I'm planning to get some companions for her.

In the past when introducing new chickens, I've kept them separated through a fence for a few weeks before putting them all together, but if I'm introducing 2-3 young pullets to just one older hen, would it be possible to put them all in the run and see how it goes? Is that a really bad idea?

I don't have them yet. I'm just trying to plan for the future, but they'd be about 12-15 weeks.
