I live in MA and I've had chickens since 2010. started with 5, got 2 more and then over the years lost some to various issues. Last summer we added 5 more, one, we thought was an "exotic" and turned out to be an Easter Egger Roo. A couple of months ago, lost 2 of the newer chickens - we were told they were Wyandotts but then from a more knowledgeable chicken "lady" we were told they were really light Brahmas - they were beautiful! so it was sad to lose them before they were even a year old! We had built a new coop and opened it in Nov and now were down to 4 hens and a Roo, so we got 5 more chicks! they re 6 weeks old!
Our oldest chicken is Moon and she I think, is a pencil bantam or something like that? not sure. We have 1 Barred rock hen who is boss! Then 2 Black Australorps. The 5 new chicks are 2 Easter Eggers, 1 white Austra, a speckled sussex and White Jersey Giant.
