Hi everyone,

I am new to raising chickens! We got our first flock of 7 on April 13.
A few weeks in, we had a pecking issue (likely due to overcrowding), and then about a week or so later we had a chick with a presumed leg injury. Both times, I turned to this forum to read on others' experiences and we were able to help our chicks heal! Now I have decided I should go ahead and join the forum instead of lurking. :)

We live in the city, and my husband and I built a beautiful coop for our girls:

Thank you for the warm welcome and helpful video! We were able to nurse our sweet Foghorn back to health from her leg injury. We separated her from the flock with a partition where everyone could still see each other, hand fed her,
gave her some nutri-drench and lots of love. We were so devastated thinking we were about to lose her and then all of the sudden she was running toward us! That was definitely one of my happiest moments.

Thank you for joining Backyard chickens. Glad BYC has been of assistance to you.

I like to think of KikisGirls as a BYC concierge. If folks need something, she can find it. She is extremely thoughtful and knows her way around the site.
