Congratulations 🎊 Calls are pretty special little ones. I know you're going to love it 💜
I wasn't planning on getting one this year, but a friend decided to try to incubate some call eggs. She's hatched other breeds, but these are the first from her calls. She put 7 in the incubator, and this is the only one to hatch. It's hard to find call ducks where I live, so I jumped at the chance!

Will this duckling be brooded alone? I know you have other ducks so it's not like it will be alone forever 💜 I've got a similar circumstance here 😊
It'll be alone in that it'll be the only duck in the brooder. I think I'm going to keep it with my 2 special needs chickens until it's older/bigger. I do have a broody chicken right now, but I'd feel better to keep it in the house for a while. Imma spoil this baby!

What's your situation???

I hatched one Call in the incubator from eggs laid by a friends flock and about 2 weeks later my broody Call hen hatched 6. I was worried about raising an only duckling but Piper has been amazing!
That's great to hear! I always worry about raising a solo baby, but ducks are just so social. And there's no avoiding a solo baby this time. No one has calls in my area. I hope it does ok with my chickens. My other ducks did, but they had each other, too.

LOOK AT IT.

SO.
MUCH.
CUTE.
