We have an adult Ameracauna and a Jersey Giant and also 3 that are 4 months old. Today we got a bantam rooster and the adult Ameracauna promptly began attacking him. Although he fought back at first, she prevailed and he got his comb bleeding a little, hiding in a tiny slot at edge of run, basically hiding and cowering and adult will not let him alone. So we moved him into a small area of "See but no touch" in the coop. He is always going to be smaller than all the girls and we thought that would be a little less disfiguring for our girls since we had a previous experience with a full grown rooster who "denuded" our hens horribly! Our "teenagers" seemed to ignore him, but now we are wondering if we will be able to keep him alive! Will this dominant hen EVER adjust and accept a rooster? These girls have never been around a rooster, as I raised these from chicks and this is first rooster!
