Hi, I'm an agriculture education teacher. This is my 4th year hatching poultry in the classroom. I have a teaching partner also hatching chicks. We both have the same incubator and split 32 eggs we ordered. We started all 32 in their incubator because mine had quails in it. At 18 days, we took turner out and separated eggs into 17 for each classroom. This was the only time we opened the incubator and candled my 17 eggs. Today is the 24th day and only 3 out of my 17 hatched. I see no pipping in the rest. My teaching partner has 9/17 and one is just pipping. What happened? When do I give up on this batch?

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I presume you both had identical settings as well? 99.5F, 40-45% humidity until lockdown, then 65-70%.

I bought a lot of various hatching eggs this year, and I was lucky if even 1/3 of them hatched. Shipping seems to be more brutal this year than in years past, as I used to always get around 70% on shipped eggs.
