Hello. I hope you and your chickens are well.
My name is Alethea.
We have chickens for the first time. Our five-week-old barred rock chicks, Ruthie, Greta and Flora are fine and we enjoy watching them grow and develop. In our enthusiasm we have given them a lot of greens. This has resulted in their poops going from brown and solid to green and/or watery. So, we have cut back on the greens and the poops look better.
The question is, how much greenery is good for them? We also give them scratch and other snacks. Is our enthusiasm going to hurt them? We want to take good care of these chicks and hope to get eggs from them as well as the joy they already provide.
