Introduction from a newbie

Good morning all!
We moved to the sticks in February 2017 and bought 8 chicks in April.

Completely new to chickens, I have 2 each Buff Orpington, Rhode island red, americauna and Delaware.

Hi, welcome! I am pretty new here, but had chickens in the 80's and 90's. We are looking to do what you have done, "move to the sticks" LOL! Retired in Arizona and want to get a place where roosters are allowed. Sounds like you have a good start on chickens!

You do know that the starter flock soon develops into full-blown bird disease? Next, ducks and geese, I did that even in the 80's without BYC to egg me on! Soon, other birds appear. People give you sparrows they find and your kids raise them. Then your friend with a cockatiel will need a home for it, you volunteer and next thing you know, you have a severe case!
