First I want to thank the creators, administrators and posters for making BYC such a great resource. I have been obsessively reading posts since before we got the chicks. I would not be feeling so good about this new adventure if BYC was not here to answer our many questions. We have followed a LOT of suggestions that have been in the posts. Thanks!
I had 4 hens 25 years ago, but it is all new to me again. I live 30 minutes from downtown Portland with my partner. We have a great dane, standard poodle (farm dog all the way), a small pit, a yorkie mix and our 11chickens. The chickens are 9 weeks old and include 2 Easter Eggers, 2 barred Rocks, 2 wellsummers, 1 each black sex link, red sex link, speckled sussex, silver lace wyandotte, rhode island red.
My partner and I built the built brooder, then the hen house and a 16 run that is completely enclosed in 1/2 x 1 welded fencing. It was a lot of work for us...but we did a beautiful job. And best of all our chickens will be safe from predators.
Enough for now...gotta go check on the chickens!

HI and Welcome! I'm in Pendleton and hoping to relocate... where does one find such a spot near to a big city to have a small "farm"? You are truly lucky!
