Introduction - I'm a new member here

I live in central/northern California. I have 8 chicks currently being kept at my daughter's place until they are old enough to go in the coop. We are in the process of building our little backyard coop. We aren't total newbies as our daughter has had chickens for several years and we helped build her coop and take care of them. I joined this group to learn more about taking care of chickens.
