Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I had chickens many years ago and have always missed raising them but have forgotten a lot of what I learned. I have a few Silkies and 3 Bramah chicks. Too young to be sure of the sex yet.
I found BackYardChickens.com while doing a search for general information on raising baby chicks and it seems packed full of information.I like talking to others that are enjoying the same things I enjoy.
I am a retired social worker. I bake and decorate cakes and cookies from my home and enjoy it a lot. Years ago we had a mini-farm and raised all kinds of farm animals. My husband passed three years ago so sometimes it is difficult for me to do fencing and building coops and chicken houses for my little ones. My grown grandchildren help when their work and their family obligations allow them the time.
I sold or gave away all the animals when I realized that I was not physically able to care for them properly. I have a small dog, Sasha and a rescue cat named Hero. I guess I miss the horses most of all but I do love to hear a rooster crow early in the morning or whenever they want to. My oldest silkie is named Big Bird and he crows every time I walk away from the pen. Yes, they can be spoiled!
