(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not brand new (we raised lots of chickens and turkeys growing up but I haven't as an adult on my own).
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

No chickens yet, just got 10 female and 2 male coturnix quail yesterday!
(3) What breeds do you have?

Coturnix quail.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Probably the same as why we have quail...eggs, meat, love anything to do with raising animals and becoming more and more self sustaining. The quail will also be for dog training.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Dogs, hunting, gardening, just being outside!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My fiance and I just moved away from the suburbs (FINALLY!) so we are absolutely loving this. It feels so good to be away from the city. We both work in plastic injection molding (he processes molds and I'm lead of quality at the same company) so we do travel about an hour to the city for work but it pays well and good benefits. We have 2 german wirehaired pointers and want to eventually breed and train more, possibly move into Drahtaar. I have 3 daughters, 2 are grown and moved out and the 3rd one is going to be 12 soon. She is also loving living out of the city and our new quail. She cant wait for chickens!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I was researching quails and stumbled across this site, decided to join just for fun.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Quail are so much fun to keep! Such big personality in a tiny package! Oh I feel your pain, I used to work in the plastic injection/ compression molding field (aerospace parts) doing CNC work eventually moving up to lead inspector. The heat was a total nightmare!

So glad you decided to join our community!
