I'm Savannah, I'm currently preparing toget some chickens about 6 all we are aloud to have in town. Not sure on breed thus is my first time having chickens I'm a stay at home mom and do alot of cooking/baking from scratch so use alot of eggs for my family of 6 we have 1 dog. Looking for help on feed and types of chickens and to learn as much as I can.

Welcome Savannah . I would look for the best laying breeds, so stay away from the cute fancy ones. With that family you need some good old laying hens. How cold and hot does it get there? Helps with breed choices. Don't get "straight run" chicks as they can be boys and girls. You need to look for "pullets" ( almost ready to lay girls) . Do you have farm stores nearby to buy feed from?
