(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
March of this year I got 5 hens and 2 roosters. 4 were bought as pullets, and the others were straight run. Today I just bought 7 pullets to combat the impending issue with the roosters. Have the ability to set up a temporary spot for one of the roosters if stuff gets bad before the chicks are old enough.

2 Brahmas
2 Leghorns
2 NH Reds
2 Barred Rocks
3 Orpingtons
3 Unknown meat birds (2 roosters, one hen)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are honestly quite silly creatures. Enjoy watching what they get up to. Plus eggs. The only part I dislike though is carrying the 2 5gal water dispensers ~50 from the house.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Houseplants, drawing/painting, researching stuff I’m interested in
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live in New England with my parents and our 3 cats. We live on 20+ acres of land, which the vast majority is forested. Currently taking a vet science course, but planning to move to human medicine as I feel it’s what’s really calling me. Really value the knowledge I’ve been learning about various animals though, has helped immensely with raising the chickens too.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Known about it for awhile since you guys pop up in search results often. Decided to join since it’s good to have an active community I can go to with questions you can’t really just look up.
