My name is Shannon and I live just North of Colorado Springs, CO. I am brand new to chicken ownership. We have 5 chicks that are 3 weeks old today. They are a mix of breeds: one white leghorn and 4 we aren’t sure about yet. I am guessing we have 2 light brown leghorns and 2 black Marans. They came from a friend that had ordered more than she needed and they were part of a mixed box.
My favorite part of raising chicks so far is the challenge and the fun of watching them grow. We had one that was struggling for the last week and this forum was a huge source of information to get her through. As of yesterday she is jumping around acting normal again!
Our family hobbies include riding our three horses, a very small amount of raised bed gardening, playing sports with our three kids, and running. We also spend a lot of time in the summer at the lake.
We live on 20 acres and we are excited to integrate these chicks into our family. I am worried the barn cats won’t be very accepting.
