Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
It sounds like you might want to go over your coop to bump up your predator proofing a bit. We keep our chickens confined in an electrified poultry net and it works great to keep them safe from ground predators. All bets are off if they fly out though.
Good luck with your current flock. It sounds like you have great plans.
