My name is Nic. My wife and I have been raising Chickens for about 6 months now. We started out with Rhode Island Reds and White Leghorns (25 to start out and we only lost 4). That's not too bad for people who have NEVER raised Chickens before. We have now purchased Barred Rocks and Aracaunas (sp). We lost one Aracauna. They are about 5 weeks old now and doing great. Our RI and WL are laying and hatching eggs now. We get an average of 15 eggs a day. We also have 2 Ducks and three Dogs on our little farm. We are constantly trying to learn all we can about raising chickens. We wanted to get Chickens for the eggs and because we thought it would be a great experience for our family. Our children are very involved in feeding, watering and the collecting of eggs. They have really enjoyed the whole process and so have we. We hope to continue to learn more about raising Chickens and growing our Farm.
